Pulses Market report
Masur Masur productivity has declined across regions like Mungawali, Ganj Basoda, Sagar, Bhopal, and Binaganj. Due to this reduced yield, arrivals in mandis are significantly lower compared to last year. Prices had recently dipped to ₹6550–₹6575 per quintal in the bilty trade but have now begun to firm up. Additionally, sowing was lower in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and current arrivals in Madhya Pradesh do not match the area sown. On the global front, Canadian prices have risen by $14–$15/ton this week, further supporting bullish sentiment. Domestic production is estimated at 16.5 lakh metric tonnes, against a consumption demand of 28 lakh metric tonnes.. Urad Domestic supplies of urad (black gram) have nearly depleted. With wedding seasons set to pause again in four days, demand in premium quality segments is weak. However, there is limited downside risk. SQ (special quality) urad is currently trading at ₹77–₹77.25 per kg, with a potential upside of ₹2/kg. Lower-grade urad is limited in mandi arrivals, and its price has dropped to ₹69.50–₹69.60 per kg. The recommendation is to trade with caution and aim for small gains. Moong Moong (green gram) prices have dropped by ₹400 per quintal this week due to weak buying by dal mills at lower prices. Continuous arrivals of new, lighter-quality moong from producing regions are exerting downward pressure. Buyers are purchasing only as per requirement. In Uttar Pradesh, new moong is quoted at ₹6300–₹6600/quintal, pushing down spot prices to ₹6500–₹6800/quintal—a drop of ₹400–₹500. Additional supply is expected from Bihar and Jharkhand in June–July, reinforcing the cautious buying approach of dal mills. Tur Supply pressure on tur (pigeon pea) from Gulbarga and Akola lines has started easing. With demand from dal mills improving, Lemon tur is now priced down to ₹66/kg. Compared to higher-priced Akola-line tur, Lemon tur has become more attractive, prompting mills to shift their buying preference. In contrast, supply in regions like Palamu, Daltonganj, Gaya, and Nagar Utari remains low, even though stock is present with farmers. Most arrivals are heading toward Patna and Muzaffarpur lines, keeping supply tight in local mandis.
