Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast Across India in Coming Days

Heavy rainfall is expected to begin tomorrow in parts of East and Central India. Odisha is likely to get extremely heavy showers first, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh over the next few days. Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal are also likely to see very heavy rain starting tomorrow. Meanwhile, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim will continue to experience a rainy spell throughout the week, with light to moderate showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds around 30–40 km/h. Bihar may also witness moderate lightning activity tomorrow. Over the next few days, parts of South India will see widespread rain. Kerala, Mahe, and parts of Karnataka are likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall. Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and North Interior Karnataka may also see isolated heavy showers. Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are expected to receive very heavy rain tomorrow. In addition, strong surface winds of 40–50 kmph are likely across the region for the next four days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue throughout the week in Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. In West India, very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected tomorrow in Konkan and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra. Konkan, Goa, and Marathwada will continue to receive heavy to very heavy rain over the next few days. In Northwest India, very heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days over East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Other areas including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and the rest of Uttar Pradesh may see isolated heavy showers. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely across the Western Himalayan region and parts of the northern plains during this period. In Northeast India, light to moderate rain is expected to continue in many areas over the next few days, along with thunderstorms and lightning.
