Groundnut Prices Stabilize in Gujarat
Groundnut prices showed slight strength in Gujarat's markets, where a shortage of good-quality peanuts and continuous government procurement at MSP helped stabilize the market, despite record arrivals. The total arrivals across the state exceeded 3 lakh bags, with the majority coming from the Saurashtra region. According to traders, good-quality peanuts are scarce in the open market because the best grades are being directly purchased under the MSP scheme, which has led to weaker quality being available in the markets. As a result, despite heavy arrivals, prices saw an increase of ₹10 per 20 kg. In Gondal Mandi, about 75,000 bags of new peanuts arrived, with around 35,000 bags traded. The average quality was quoted at ₹1,300, and the best quality at ₹1,320 per 20 kg. Total arrivals in Saurashtra were about 2.5 lakh bags. Rajkot also saw strong arrivals of 1.2 lakh bags, where most of the goods were priced at ₹1,390, with selected good-quality peanuts at ₹1,365 per 20 kg. In Northern Gujarat, total arrivals were around 47,600 bags. In Disa, prices were ₹1,560, while in Panthwada, they went up to ₹1,580 per 20 kg. In Bikaner Mandi, peanuts were priced at ₹5,500 per quintal, and in Solapur, they were ₹7,600 per quintal. Overall, there has been a substantial arrival of peanuts in the markets, but the shortage of good quality and strong government procurement at MSP has kept prices from falling. Market experts believe that there is no sign of a price drop for now, and the market is likely to stay range-bound, fluctuating slightly between bullish and bearish trends. Future price movements will depend on the quality and arrivals in the coming weeks. Traders are advised to proceed with caution based on their own assessment.
