Decline in Sugar and Jaggery Prices in the Market.
During the past week, prices of sugar and jaggery in the local market declined due to weak demand. Sales of sugar remained sluggish, and with mills in Uttar Pradesh lowering their rates, mill delivery prices fell by ₹50 to ₹40004130 per quintal, while spot prices stood at ₹43004450 per quintal. Higher production and an expected increase in international supply caused London sugar futures to drop from $435 to $413 per ton. Jaggery prices also fell due to weak demand, with peda priced at ₹43004400 and dhaiya at ₹45004600 per quintal. Khandsari prices decreased by ₹100, reaching ₹52005300 per quintal. In Hapur market, increased sales by stockists reduced jaggery balti prices by ₹40 to ₹16101640 per 40 kg. In Muzaffarnagar, jaggery chakoo prices fell from ₹15751760 to ₹15601680 per 40 kg.
