Maharashtra becomes the hottest state in the country, thunderstorms and rain activities to begin from the weekend
Maharashtra is currently one of the hottest states in the country. Most parts of the state, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Central Maharashtra, are experiencing intense heat. Except for the Konkan coast, temperatures across the state have crossed 40C, and in several areas, they have even exceeded 42C. Akola has recorded the highest temperature in the country for the past three consecutive days, with a maximum temperature reaching 44C. According to weather experts, severe heat is likely to continue in the interior parts of Maharashtra for the next 34 days. The main reason is an anti-cyclone system formed over Maharashtra and Karnataka at an altitude of around 10,000 to 20,000 feet, which is causing air to sink downward. As a result, surface temperatures are rising rapidly, intensifying the heat. This condition may persist until April 18. However, signs of a weather change are expected from the weekend. Around April 1819, several weather systems are likely to become active, which may weaken the anti-cyclone. A cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over southeast Pakistan and Gujarat, which will affect wind patterns in the western parts of Maharashtra. In addition, a trough line may become active from Vidarbha extending to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Due to these weather changes, thunderstorms and rain with lightning are likely in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Central Maharashtra between April 19 and 22. These weather activities may occur at different times in different regions. The effects may persist in some areas until April 2324, bringing temporary relief from the severe heat.
