The crop remain in flowering from May to August,which requires moderate temperature and frequent rainfall with good drainage for the berry development . The state wise details are given as under :
Kerala
The major pepper producing districts Kannur, Kasargod, Kozikhode, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvanthapuram received rainfall(cumulative),temperature and RH were 49-187 mm , 20-28 C and 89-95% . The prevailing weather and forecasted rainfall will help for the continuance of flowering and berry development . The continuance of monsoon activity may compensate for initial poor condition.
Tamil Nadu
Among the major pepper producing districts Namakkal, Nilgiris and Dindigul have rainfall(cumulative), temperature and RH were 46-78 mm ,18-30 C and 83-88% .As per weather forecast the monsoon activity will continue that will be helpful for the flowering and berry development .
