About 20.40 lakh bales of cotton are expected to be imported in the current season. In such a situation, the total availability will be 359 lakh bales. The total domestic consumption of cotton in the current crop season is estimated to be 317 lakh bales, while 22 lakh bales are expected to be exported during this period. From October 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024, 226.82 lakh bales of cotton have arrived in the markets across the country, while four lakh bales have been imported during this period. Recently, due to the rise in the prices of cotton in the world market, there has been an increase in the export deals of cotton, and by 29 February 2024, the export shipment of about 15 lakh bales of cotton has been done and the total export in the current season is expected to be about 22 lakh bales. is estimated. Cotton Corporation of India, CCI and Maharashtra Federation, MNCs and ginners and traders as well as exporters have a stock of about 65.22 lakh bales of cotton as on 29 February 2024. According to the second advance estimate of the Union Agriculture Ministry, cotton production in the country during the crop season 2023-24 is estimated to be 323.11 lakh bales, one bale - 170 kg.
